Storyteller Rose Owens

Rose Owens is a professional storyteller. She has been telling stories for over 50 years. She began as a volunteer and transitioned to professional storytelling 20 years ago. She brought storytelling to Temple Hill in December of 2009 and has performed as part of Temple Hill Christmas Events for ten years. In 2015 she began an interactive storytelling program for young listeners twice a month in the Visitor Center. When COVID-19 made it impossible to continue in-person storytelling, she moved Temple Hill Storytelling to the Zoom platform. She also Zooms Storytelling for All Ages on the third Monday each month. Links for these programs can be found on her  website: rosethestorylady.net. Rose writes many of the stories she tells and adapts others to provide a unique experience.

Rose has shared her talent in schools, daycare centers, senior citizen centers, storytelling festivals, libraries, Pioneer Village, and at Church events. She is the mother of seven children, and she has 23 grandchildren and 2 great grand-daughters. Her grandchildren know that whenever Grandma comes to visit, there will be stories. When they come to visit Grandpa and Grandma in California, there will always be more to share.

Rose is the author of three middle-grade novels and a picture book. After making a Huggable Nativity set for each of her children, she photographed those soft, huggable figures and used them as illustrations for Who Was There: A Nativity Story for Children. This picture book is available on Amazon through Kindle Unlimited and as a print book. Her three middle-grade novels are also available there. Rose enjoys writing and her blog can be found at rose-the-storylady.com. Each blog begins with a short story.  She finds inspiration for her writing as she paints, crafts, sews, gardens and walks.

Rose graduated from Brigham Young University with a BS in elementary education. She received a Masters Degree in Special Education from California State University. Hayward.

During this year's Days of Christmas, Rose looks forward to delivering her presentations to kids of all ages.
